Press Release 1

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 9, 2018

RELEASE: With Election Still Undecided, Cisneros’ Home Vandalized, Campaign Office Shot At, & Young Kim’s Team Challenging Ballots

Fullerton, Calif. – Yesterday, the Cisneros campaign received reports from the Los Angeles Registrar of Voters that representatives for Young Kim were attempting to challenge ballots, while thousands of votes continue to be counted in the race. The representatives are slowing down the process and obstructing the employees from reviewing signatures with the intent to delay the counting process so that not all ballots are counted within the 30 days required by law. As of Thursday, November 8th, the race for California’s 39th District is officially still too close to call.

This follows a series of events earlier in the week, which began when the Cisneros family residence in Yorba Linda was vandalized. On the night of the election, as campaign staff worked in the office, an air-rifle was fired at the office shattering a window, but harming no one. Also on the night of the election, Cisneros campaign staff received reports of possible intimidation at certain polling stations, where “Democrats” were being explicitly denied the right to observe and armed security personnel were patrolling the property.

Nic Jordan, Campaign Manager for the Gil Cisneros campaign, released the following statement:

“It is both improper and reprehensible that representatives for Young Kim are harassing election registrar workers and challenging ballots before the process has been completed. Thousands of ballots have yet to be counted in this race. This targeted disenfranchisement follows a series of acts of intimidation at a polling station in La Habra, the Cisneros campaign headquarters, and even the Cisneros’ family home. We want to make this clear -- the Cisneros campaign will not be intimidated by any form of harassment and we are awaiting the completion of the initial voting process before taking any action to challenge, as is standard procedure.”

RELEASE: Vice President Joe Biden Endorses Gil Cisneros in ‘My Friend’

Watch 'My Friend' Here

Fullerton, Calif. – Today, Gil Cisneros’s campaign released a new ad for the general election – called “My Friend” – where Vice President Joe Biden endorses Cisneros to represent California’s 39th District in Congress. In the ad, the Vice President commends Cisneros for his military service and for starting a charitable foundation that invests in students from underserved communities.
“I want to tell you about my friend Gil Cisneros. A Decorated Navy veteran. A man with an enormous heart. Gil didn’t have it easy growing up,” says Vice President Biden in the ad. “But he worked hard, earned an ROTC scholarship and served our nation as a Naval Officer for over a decade. But Gil’s service didn’t stop there. When the guy won the lottery, he didn’t pack up and head to the beach. Gil headed back to school. Earned his master’s degree. And started a foundation to help low-income kids go to college. Gil is using his good fortune to change the fortune of others. Now that is what makes America great. Service to others, that’s who Gil is. And that’s why we need him in Congress.”
“My Friend” highlights Cisneros’ contribution to the community and dedication to ensuring low-income kids have access to a quality education. The cost of college is a huge barrier for low-income kids and is big reason why they attend college at a lower rate than higher income students. Cisneros’ foundation focuses on closing this gap so kids of all incomes can continue their education after high school.
“My Friend” will air online today and will be distributed digitally in the 39th Congressional District. The ad can also be seen HERE
